Press Release
LONGUEUIL, Quebec, August 21, 2024 – The Regional County Municipality of Lotbinière (“RCM of Lotbinière”), Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. and the Abenaki Councils of Odanak and Wôlinak wish to inform the public of the start of the environmental assessment for the Lotbinière Ndakina Wind Facility.
Lotbinière Ndakina is a 100 MW community wind project to be located in the RCM of Lotbinière. The project is the result of a community and Indigenous partnership formed by the RCM of Lotbinière (45%), Innergex (50%), the Abenaki Council of Odanak (2.5%) and the Abenaki Council of Wôlinak (2.5%). A power purchase agreement with Hydro-Québec was signed on April 15, and construction of the wind facility will create around 200 jobs and involve local and regional businesses. When the project will achieve commercial operation at the end of 2028, it will generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of 20,000 homes, and bring tangible economic and social benefits to the local community.
Public consultation
The project notice and the Minister’s directive concerning the project’s impact study are available for consultation in the public register of projects (in French only) subject to the environmental impact assessment and review procedure.
