Public Policy Forum to honour Canadian leaders at 2014 Testimonial Dinner & Awards

OTTAWA, Jan. 15, 2014 – Canada’s Public Policy Forum will recognize the contributions of four exceptional Canadians at its 27th Annual Testimonial Dinner & Awards in Toronto on April 10, 2014.

This year’s honourees are:

  • Annette Verschuren, Chair and CEO, NRStor Inc. and former President of Home Depot Canada and Home Depot Asia
  • Mary Simon, Chairperson, National Committee on Inuit Education, former President of Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, andCanada’s first Ambassador for Circumpolar Affairs
  • Sheila Fraser, former Auditor General of Canada
  • Heather Munroe-Blum, former Principal and Vice-Chancellor of McGill University

“After paying tribute to Canada’s Prime Ministers in 2012 and the Clerks of the Privy Council in 2013, the Public Policy Forum is returning to its tradition of recognizing Canadians from all sectors and regions of the country,” said David Mitchell, President and CEO of the Forum. “These four honourees represent the highest standards of accomplishment, leadership, and service to their respective fields and to their country.”

For the first time in the Forum’s history, two sitting Canadian premiers will co-chair the Testimonial Dinner: Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Kathy Dunderdale and Alberta Premier Alison Redford. In the coming weeks, the Forum will also announce the recipients of this year’s Hyman Solomon Award for Excellence in Public Policy Journalism and the Emerging Leader Award, which will both be presented at the dinner.

Each year, the Forum’s Testimonial Dinner & Awards recognizes distinguished Canadians who have made a lasting contribution to the advancement of public policy and good governance in our country.
