Iqaluit, Nunavut – November 7, 2022 – With funding from Kakivak Association and Government of Nunavut, the Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) will be touring and promoting the Tuttarvik mobile app in Qikiqtani communities. The Tuttarvik app is building on the success of the Tuttarvik website and is intended to help Inuit find employment and training opportunities.
The Tuttarvik website and mobile app will also be a central resource to help employers interested in recruiting Qikiqtani Inuit in their businesses and organizations.
With the Tuttarvik resources, QIA has made it easy for Inuit to use their phones and tablets to create profiles that include a resume that promotes their skills and enables them to apply for employment and training opportunities. Inuit can include traditional skills such as hunting, carving, and sewing on their resumes and highlight these skills to employers. Once profiles are created, the app will send notifications to potential employers on opportunities that match their profiles.
QIA will host a community tour to help demonstrate this innovative technology and to help more Inuit and Qikiqtani employers to use Tuttarvik. Please see attached schedule for communities and locations.
The Tuttarvik app is free and is now available on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. The app was co-developed between QIA, the Pinnguaq Association and is the first of its kind in the Qikiqtani Region.
