Reinstate funds for housing, active transportation: Victoria council – Times Colonist

The Community Housing Fund was paused in this spring’s budget, while the B.C. Active Transportation Infrastructure Grants Program was frozen last fall.
Victoria council has added its voice to the chorus calling on the province to reinstate its Community Housing Fund, which was paused in this spring’s budget.
Similar motions have been passed by municipalities around the province, including Saanich.
Victoria council agreed to back a motion going to the Union of B.C. Municipalities this fall calling on the province to reinstate the program, which helps build affordable rental homes for people with low incomes and those with disabilities, and to fund projects that stalled or were cancelled without it.
