Robert Louie has been elected to serve a ninth term as chief of Westbank First Nation.
The businessman was elected chief during Thursday’s band elections, easily defeating another former chief, Roxanne Lindley in the voting.
Louie received 258 votes to Lindley’s 127.
He last served as chief in 2016, when he was defeated by Lindley. Lindley herself lost position to Christopher Derickson in 2019.
The seat was vacant heading into Thursday’s election after Derickson, citing corruption within WFN, resigned suddenly in June.
Two incumbent councillors also won re-election to the four member council.
