Statement from Premier Prentice on meeting with the Lubicon Lake Band

Premier Jim Prentice issued the following statement:

“On the invitation of Chief Billy Joe Laboucan, today I visited the Lubicon Lake Band community. I met with the Chief and council and we discussed the outstanding issues with the federal and provincial governments and together we committed to a renewed dialogue.

“As the first Alberta Premier to visit this unique and proud northern community, I found the discussions to be very genuine and meaningful. Chief Laboucan and his council are clearly passionate about creating a good quality of life for the families that live here, and I am committed to working alongside the community to achieve this goal.”
