Press Release

September 12, 2024

Telefilm Canada is proud to unveil its 2024-2027 strategy for the Atlantic film industry, developed for, and with Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. The purpose of this strategic work is to co-develop actions and actions to stimulate and support the Atlantic film industry as a driver of Canada’s cultural and economic prosperity.

Building on Telefilm’s Strategic Plan 2024-2027, and inspired by their action plans for equity, diversity and inclusion, accessibility and sustainability, the following strategic priorities aim to recognize, reflect and respond to the unique opportunities, challenges and opportunities of the Atlantic region.

This evolving initiative will adapt and adjust to market realities and opportunities and is designed to set the stage for the ongoing evolution of the corporate actions, fostering greater transparency and more consistent, timely reporting. A comprehensive overview of the actions will be presented at a later time, after consultation with the local industry.

Telefilm will bring its vision to fruition through a series of initiatives based on the following three strategic priorities:

  • Creating connections for capacity-building and equitable access
  • Develop competitiveness by mobilizing data to take account of regional realities
  • Increase discoverability of regional cinema (promotion and market reach)

“At Telefilm Canada, we are committed to strengthening and celebrating regional talent, organizations and the diversity of voices from all the communities that shape Canada today. With this in mind, we are proud to present Telefilm’s Three-Year Strategy for the Atlantic Region,” said Francesca Accinelli, Senior Vice President, Program Strategy and Industry Development. “These priorities and objectives represent a coordinated and collaborative effort with the key players in the ecosystem and are the result of many discussions with the region’s film industry towards collective action to build a more inclusive, prosperous and sustainable future for the Atlantic film industry! Telefilm wishes to recognize and thank the many collaborators for their time and expertise that helped shape this important work.”
