The Bdic and City Partner In Services To Small Business

The City of Yellowknife (City) is partnering with the Northwest Territories Business Development and Investment Corporation (BDIC) to promote programs that support Yellowknife small businesses.

Starting in August, businesses renewing or acquiring new Business Licenses will receive a brochure detailing the programs and services that the BDIC offers to small business in Yellowknife. The brochure is also available at yellowknife.ca. This partnership helps further BDIC’s mission “to support the economy by encouraging the creation and development of business in communities,” through engagement with the Yellowknife business community.

“Supporting small businesses is a key goal of our Economic Development Strategy,” says Mayor Mark Heyck. “We have substantial resources available locally through the BDIC. By working cooperatively, we are able to make these resources more accessible to Yellowknife residents.”

The BDIC’s programs for small businesses include financial assistance in the form of contribution, loan, subsidiary and guarantee programs for businesses throughout the Northwest Territories. The organization also provides support services based out of their Yellowknife offices, including computer workstations, video conference learning sessions, a business resource library and a comprehensive guide on how to start a business in the Northwest Territories.

“Our programs and services are available to residents in all communities in the NWT to assist them in starting and growing their businesses,” says Pawan Chugh, CEO of the BDIC. “Working closely with the City of Yellowknife allows us to reach Yellowknife entrepreneurs and offer them the resources they need to help them succeed.”
