Consumer Price Index, March 2017
The Consumer Price Index rose 1.6% on a year-over-year basis in March, following a 2.0% increase in February. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, the Consumer Price Index was down 0.2% in March, after decreasing 0.3% in February.

Canadian farmers expect to plant more canola, soybeans and oats in 2017, but fewer acres of durum wheat and lentils, crops that were both at high levels in 2016.
Study: Changes in Canadians’ preferences for milk and dairy products, 1960 to 2015
This article examines the decline in commercial sales of milk since 2009, as well as what types of milk Canadians have preferred since 1960. It also studies the changing popularity of different types of dairy products such as yogurt and ice cream.
Natural resource indicators, first quarter 2007 to fourth quarter 2016
Real natural resource gross domestic product (GDP), or the volume of economic activity attributable to natural resources, edged up 0.3% in the fourth quarter of 2016, after a gradual downward trend over the previous two years. In contrast, real GDP for the economy as a whole increased by 0.6% in the fourth quarter of 2016.
Investment in new housing construction, February 2017
New housing construction investment totalled $4.0 billion in February, an increase of 6.4% compared with the same month in 2016. This increase is largely explained by higher investment in Ontario and, to a lesser extent, in British Columbia and Manitoba. Spending on single-family dwellings led the advance at the national level.
Statistics Canada’s Quality Assurance Framework
The Quality Assurance Framework (QAF) serves as the highest-level governance tool for quality management at Statistics Canada. The QAF provides an overview of the approach used by the Agency to support statistical program areas as they strive to achieve an appropriate balance between the various dimensions of quality and related factors, including the evolving needs of users, costs and respondent burden. The QAF is used in conjunction with Statistics Canada management practices, such as those described in the Agency’s Quality Guidelines.
