Labour Force Survey, July 2019
Employment was little changed for the third consecutive month in July. The unemployment rate increased by 0.2 percentage points to 5.7% as more people searched for work.
Building permits, June 2019
The value of building permits issued by Canadian municipalities declined 3.7% to $8.0 billion in June, largely due to a decrease in the value of multi-family and institutional permits. Declines were reported in six provinces, with over one-third of the national decrease in Alberta.
Traveller Accommodation Services Price Index, second quarter 2019
The Traveller Accommodation Services Price Index (TASPI) rose 14.4% in the second quarter of 2019. The TASPI has increased in the second quarter every year since its inception, as higher seasonal demand typically drives up accommodation prices in the spring and summer.
Retail Commodity Survey, May 2019
Monthly data from the Retail Commodity Survey are now available for May. The survey collects detailed information about retail commodity sales in Canada to produce estimates of the distribution of sales of various commodities at the national level.
New Housing Statistics Portal
Today, Statistics Canada is launching a new Housing Statistics Portal. This portal has been created in response to growing demand for consolidated housing information. By improving access to a variety of housing data, it facilitates collaboration between users and data providers.
