National balance sheet and financial flow accounts, third quarter 2018
National wealth, the value of non-financial assets in the Canadian economy, rose 1.6% to $11,415.3 billion at the end of the third quarter, a deceleration from the 1.9% increase in the second quarter.
Pension Satellite Account, 2017
Pension wealth grew 6.8% in nominal terms in 2017, to $3,839 billion by the end of the year, following an increase of 3.5% in 2016. The growth in 2017 was predominately due to an increase in pension contributions and strong foreign equity markets.
Reasons for working at 60 and beyond, September 2017 to August 2018
The article, “Reasons for working at 60 and beyond,” released today in Labour Statistics at a Glance, examines the reasons why people continue to work at age 60 and older. The analysis is based on the one-time addition of questions on this topic to the Labour Force Survey in September 2018.
Environmental protection expenditures by businesses, 2016
Canadian businesses spent $8.4 billion on environmental protection in 2016, down 29% from 2014. The decrease was largely the result of changes in environmental protection investments in the oil and gas extraction industry.
Specialized design services, 2017
The specialized design service industry, which includes interior, industrial, graphic and other specialized design services, reported operating revenue of $2.8 billion in 2017, up 3.0% from 2016. Businesses in Ontario generated 52.2% of the industry’s total operating revenue.
Construction Union Wage Rate Index, November 2018
The Construction Union Wage Rate Index (including supplements) for Canada was unchanged in November compared with the previous month. The composite index increased 0.8% in the 12 months to November.
