After two consecutive months of notable increases, employment was little changed in November (+11,000 or +0.1%). With fewer people searching for work, the unemployment rate fell by 0.2 percentage points to 6.8%.
Labour productivity, hourly compensation and unit labour cost, third quarter 2016
Labour productivity of Canadian businesses rose 1.2% in the third quarter, after declining 0.2% in the second quarter.
Residential construction investment, third quarter 2016
Total investment in residential construction rose 2.8% year over year to $32.7 billion in the third quarter. This was the 11th consecutive year-over-year quarterly increase.
Investment in non-residential building construction (revised data), third quarter 2016
Following the release of gross domestic product by income and expenditure for the third quarter, revised data on investment in non-residential building construction for the third quarter are now available.

The Architectural, Engineering and Related Services Price Index (AESPI) declined by 0.7% in the third quarter following a 1.0% decline in the second quarter.
Asphalt roofing, October 2016
Shipments of asphalt shingles totalled 2.4 million metric bundles in October, down 21.2% from the previous month. Compared with October 2015, shipments were 3.3% higher.
