Employment rose by 154,000 (+0.8%) in November and was 186,000 (+1.0%) higher than its pre-COVID February 2020 level.
Production of principal field crops, November 2021
Canadian farmers produced more corn for grain but less wheat, canola, barley, soybeans and oats in 2021 compared with 2020. Lower yields were driven largely by drought conditions in Western Canada, which resulted in lower production.

Lumber production by sawmills increased 4.5% from August to 4 641.5 thousand cubic metres in September. Production was 10.1% lower than in September 2020.
