Labour Force Survey, November 2019
After holding steady in October, employment fell by 71,000 (-0.4%) in November. The unemployment rate rose by 0.4 percentage points to 5.9%.
Production of principal field crops, November 2019
Canadian farmers reported producing more wheat, barley and oats in 2019, while canola, corn for grain and soybean production were all down from a year earlier.
Farm operating revenues and expenses, 2018
It was a challenging year for many Canadian farmers in 2018. Higher average operating expenses more than offset higher average operating revenues, leading to lower average net operating income. Despite a lower rate of return, oilseed and grain farmers continued to have the highest average operating profit margin among all farm types nationally.
Canadian potato production, October 2019
Potato production increased 4.0% from 2018 to 106.6 million hundredweight in 2019, returning to values similar to those observed in 2017. Total potato production was led by Prince Edward Island (23.6%), Alberta (20.4%) and Manitoba (18.5%).
Farm product prices, October 2019
Prices received by farmers in October for grains, oilseeds, specialty crops, cattle, hogs, poultry, eggs and dairy products are now available at the provincial level.
Architectural, Engineering and Related Services Price Index, third quarter 2019
The Architectural, Engineering and Related Services Price Index (AESPI) increased 0.3% in the third quarter, following a 1.2% increase in the second quarter. Higher prices were observed in all regions, with respondents in the Prairies and Ontario reporting rising input costs due to salary changes as the main contributor to price increases.
