Monthly Survey of Manufacturing, December 2017
Manufacturing sales declined 0.3% to $55.5 billion in December, following a revised increase of 3.8% in November. The decline was mainly the result of lower sales in the petroleum and coal products industry and the food manufacturing industry.
Canada’s international transactions in securities, December 2017
Canadian investors acquired a record $22.0 billion of foreign securities in December, mainly foreign shares. Meanwhile, foreign investors reduced their holdings of Canadian securities by $2.0 billion, led by a divestment in Canadian bonds.
Hours worked and labour productivity in the provinces and territories, 2016
Revised data on provincial and territorial labour productivity and related measures from 2013 to 2016 are now available.
Investment income, 2016
Both the number of Canadian tax filers reporting investment income and the actual amount of investment income declined in 2016. Investment income refers to the sum of dividend income from taxable Canadian corporations and interest income from investments in non-tax-sheltered vehicles.
Registered retirement savings plan contributions, 2016
Contributions to registered retirement savings plans (RRSPs) totalled $40.4 billion in 2016, up 3.1% from 2015. Data are based on tax returns filed for 2016.
