Retail trade, December 2018
Retail sales edged down 0.1% to $50.4 billion in December. Lower sales at gasoline stations (-3.6%) were partly offset by higher sales at motor vehicle and parts dealers (+1.0%). Excluding gasoline stations, retail sales increased 0.4%.
Investment in building construction, December 2018
Total investment in building construction edged up 0.2% from November to $13.7 billion in December. Gains in the residential sector (+0.6% to $9.4 billion) were offset by declines in the non-residential sector (-0.7% to $4.3 billion).
Fruit and vegetable production, 2018
The farm-gate value of fruits and vegetables produced in Canada increased 4.2% in 2018 to $2.4 billion. This gain was mainly the result of a 6.1% rise in the value of fruit, which accounted for about half of the total farm-gate value of fruits and vegetables.
Oilseed crushing statistics, January 2019
Oilseed processors crushed 829 640 tonnes of canola in January. Oil production totalled 359 742 tonnes, while meal production totalled 468 249 tonnes.
Milled wheat and wheat flour produced, January 2019
Millers milled 273 538 tonnes of wheat in January, while wheat flour production totalled 204 047 tonnes.
Real estate agents, brokers, appraisers and other real estate activities, 2017
Operating revenue for the Canadian real estate agents and brokers industry rose 8.5% to $15.0 billion in 2017. Businesses in Ontario (+10.3%) and British Columbia (+7.0%) accounted for most of the increase and 75.8% of the national revenue.
