Labour Force Survey, January 2016
Employment was virtually unchanged in January (-5,700 or 0.0%) and the unemployment rate edged up to 7.2%.
International trade
Canadian international merchandise trade, December 2015Canada’s exports increased 3.9% in December and imports were up 1.6%. Consequently, Canada’s merchandise trade deficit with the world narrowed from $1.6 billion in November to $585 million in December.
Chain Fisher real export and import values, December 2015
The monthly chain Fisher real dollar values (reference year 2007) for Canadian international merchandise trade are now available for December.
Export and import price indexes, December 2015
Current- and fixed-weighted export and import price indexes (2007=100) on a customs or balance of payments basis are now available based on the 2007 North American Product Classification System.
Agriculture
Prices received by farmers in December for grains, oilseeds, specialty crops, potatoes, cattle, hogs, poultry, eggs and dairy products are now available.
Chicken production, 2015
Chicken production reached 1.1 million tonnes in 2015, up 3.5% from the previous year. Ontario and Quebec produced over half of the chicken in Canada, with Ontario accounting for 365 270 tonnes and Quebec 301 738 tonnes.
