Retail trade, November 2020
Retail sales rose at their fastest pace since September, up 1.3% to $55.2 billion in November. This was the seventh consecutive monthly gain. The increase was led by higher sales at food and beverage stores, along with an uptick in e-commerce sales.
Wholesale trade: Early indicator, December 2020
Given the rapidly evolving economic situation, Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the wholesale trade sector for December. The advance results for December indicate that wholesale sales fell 1.7%. The decrease reflected lower sales in the machinery, equipment and supplies; food, beverage, and tobacco; and miscellaneous subsectors.

Travel between Canada and other countries, November 2020
The number of travellers to Canada from both the United States and overseas countries was down 92.9% in November, compared with November 2019. Similarly, the number of Canadian residents returning from abroad fell sharply (-92.1%) year over year.
Circumstances surrounding snowmobile fatalities in Canada, 2013 to 2019
Snowmobiles are used across Canada for recreation, transportation and work. Although snowmobiling is a popular form of activity, there is still potential for injury and death. From 2013 to 2019, on average, 73 people in Canada died from unintentional snowmobile events every year, across all provinces and territories. These results are based on new insights released today from the Canadian Vital Statistics – Death Database (CVSD) and the Canadian Coroner and Medical Examiner Database (CCMED).
Food services and drinking places, November 2020
Sales in the food services and drinking places subsector declined 3.7% to $4.5 billion in November 2020, as restrictions continued to be put in place across the country in response to the second wave of COVID-19. Sales declined at full-service restaurants (-8.3%), drinking places (alcoholic beverages) (-13.0%), special food services (-3.5%), and limited-service restaurants (-0.2%). Most provinces reported decreases, with the largest declines in dollar terms seen in British Columbia (-7.3%), Alberta (-6.3%), Ontario (-1.5%) and Manitoba (-18.2%).
