Labour Force Survey, June 2022
Employment fell by 43,000 (-0.2%) in June. The unemployment rate fell 0.2 percentage points to a new record low of 4.9%, as fewer people searched for work.
National culture indicators, first quarter 2022
Real gross domestic product (GDP) for the culture and sport sectors in Canada was up 1.1% to $15.3 billion in the first quarter, following a 3.6% increase in the fourth quarter of 2021. By comparison, real GDP for the total economy rose 0.8% during the first quarter of 2022.
Retail Commodity Survey, April 2022
Retail sales reached $60.7 billion in April, an increase of 8.9% compared with the same month in 2021. Higher sales were reported in 15 of the 19 commodity classes.
