The number of employees receiving pay or benefits from their employer—measured by the Survey of Employment, Payrolls and Hours—increased by 126,000 (+0.7%) in April.

In 2020, businesses spent $1.7 billion on in-house energy-related research and development in Canada, a 2.8% increase from 2019. Meanwhile, outsourced energy-related research and development spending decreased 24.8% to $191 million.

Dairy statistics, April 2022
The total amount of milk sold off farms in April decreased 0.5% year over year to 781 999 kilolitres. Meanwhile, milk sold off farms for fluid purposes decreased 1.8% to 216 796 kilolitres. Milk sold off farms for industrial purposes was virtually unchanged year over year at 565 202 kilolitres.
