Consumer Price Index, February 2019
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 1.5% on a year-over-year basis in February, up from a 1.4% increase in January. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, the CPI increased 0.3% in February.
Retail trade, January 2019
Retail sales decreased for the third consecutive month, declining 0.3% to $50.1 billion in January. Lower sales at motor vehicle and parts dealers (-1.5%) contributed to the majority of the decline. Excluding sales in this subsector, retail sales increased 0.1%.
Annual retail trade, 2017
Store and non-store retailers generated $629.4 billion in operating revenue in 2017, up 6.3% over the previous year. The increase in sales was widespread throughout the retail sector, with all 12 subsectors posting growth. However, the gain was concentrated in three subsectors, with motor vehicle and parts dealers, gasoline stations and non-store retailers accounting for nearly three-quarters of the increase.
Spectator sports, event promoters, artists and related industries, 2017
Total operating revenue for the spectator sports, event promoters, artists and related industries group rose 8.0% to $9.7 billion in 2017, while total operating expenses increased 8.4% to $8.7 billion. This resulted in an operating profit margin of 11.1%, down slightly from 11.4% in 2016.
Oilseed crushing statistics, February 2019
Oilseed processors crushed 635 526 tonnes of canola in February. Oil production totalled 277 382 tonnes, while meal production totalled 355 219 tonnes.
Milled wheat and wheat flour produced, February 2019
Millers milled 237 902 tonnes of wheat in February, while wheat flour production totalled 177 445 tonnes.
