Socioeconomic profile of the lesbian, gay and bisexual population, 2015 to 2018

According to Canadian Community Health Survey data from 2015 to 2018, an estimated 900,000 Canadians were lesbian, gay, or bisexual (LGB), representing 3.3% of the population aged 15 and older. The LGB population was younger than the heterosexual population.

Dairy statistics, January 2021

The total amount of milk sold off farms in January increased by 1.5% year over year to 803 328 kilolitres. Meanwhile, milk sold off farms for fluid purposes decreased 4.8% to 224 256 kilolitres. Milk sold off farms for industrial purposes rose 4.1% year over year to 579 072 kilolitres.

Canadian System of Environmental–Economic Accounts: Energy use and greenhouse gas emissions, 2018

Canada’s economy has been growing at a faster pace than its industrial greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The economy grew 2.4% a year on average from 2009 to 2018, while industrial GHG emissions (+0.8%) rose at one-third the pace. The main reason for the difference is how Canadians sourced energy to heat and power their homes and businesses over that decade.

Average annual salaries in the environmental and clean technology sector are typically higher than the average salary in the Canadian economy, 2019

Environmental and clean technology (ECT) activity generated about 341,000 jobs in the Canadian economy in 2019, up nearly 5% from a year earlier. This represented almost 2% of all jobs in Canada. The sector also accounted for 27,980 self-employed jobs.

Statistics Canada has launched the “Physical flow account for energy use: Interactive tool.” This interactive dashboard provides Canadians with the ability to graph trends in energy use over time for selected industries and household categories. It also displays the year-over-year changes in total energy use in Canada, the top five energy use sectors for Canada by year and the proportion of energy use by aggregate sector by year.
