Labour Force Survey, April 2019
Employment rose by 107,000 in April, with notable gains in part-time work for youth. The unemployment rate declined by 0.1 percentage points to 5.7% as more people participated in the labour market.
Building permits, March 2019
Canadian municipalities issued $8.1 billion worth of building permits in March, up 2.1% from February. The increase was attributable to higher construction intentions in Western Canada.
Traveller Accommodation Services Price Index, first quarter 2019
The Traveller Accommodation Services Price Index (TASPI) declined 3.9% in the first quarter. The index has decreased in the first quarter in 15 out of 18 years since its inception, as lower seasonal demand typically drives down accommodation prices in the fall and winter.
Leading indicator of cross-border traveller volume, April 2019
Data indicating cross-border travel by automobile through land ports equipped with the automated Integrated Primary Inspection Line (IPIL) system are now available upon request.
