Canada’s international transactions in securities, March 2025
Canadian investors acquired $15.6 billion of foreign securities in March, mainly in US bonds. Meanwhile, foreign investors reduced their exposure to Canadian securities by $4.2 billion, marking a second consecutive monthly divestment.
Trade in goods by exporter characteristics, 2024
There were 48,036 Canadian exporting enterprises in 2024, down 1.4% from the previous year. This marked the first year since 2020 that the number of goods exporters declined. Fewer small and medium-sized enterprises (-1.5%) exported goods in 2024, while the number of large exporting enterprises edged up 0.6%.
Urban public transit, March 2025
In March, Canada’s urban transit systems logged nearly 136 million passenger trips, 2.0% higher than in March 2024.
Survey of Marine Vessel Operators, 2023
In 2023, there were 870 marine vessel owners and operators in Canada who earned an estimated $10.9 billion in revenue from their vessel operations.
Study: Citizenship acquisition and active presence of immigrants in Canada
In recent years, concerns have emerged about immigrants emigrating from Canada after admission to the country. A key question is whether emigration increases after immigrants have acquired Canadian citizenship. If a significant number of new citizens leave Canada, it may signal that there are challenges regarding social integration, the motivations behind acquiring Canadian citizenship or lack of economic opportunities.
