Labour Force Survey, April 2020
Following a drop of over one million in March, employment fell by nearly two million in April, bringing the total employment decline since the beginning of the COVID-19 economic shutdown to over three million.
Building permits, March 2020
The total value of building permits issued by Canadian municipalities decreased 13.2% to $7.4 billion in March, with declines reported in seven provinces and two territories. The $1.1 billion national decrease was the largest since August 2014.
Industrial Product Price Index: Flash estimates, April 2020
To provide Canadians with timely economic data, Statistics Canada is releasing early estimates of the Industrial Product Price Index (IPPI) for April 2020. These flash estimates will be revised when the IPPI is officially released on May 29, 2020. Because flash estimates are calculated using preliminary data, these values should be used with caution.
Consulting Services Price Index, fourth quarter 2019
The Consulting Services Price Index (2018=100) is now available for the fourth quarter.
Software development and computer services, 2018
Total operating revenue for software development and computer service industries reached $76.3 billion in 2018, up 10.6% from 2017. This industry’s operating revenue has been growing—on average—twice as fast as the Canadian economy since 2013. Computer systems design and related service providers generated 75.8% of the industry’s operating revenue in 2018.

A revised set of preliminary data on the number of confirmed novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases reported by the provincial and territorial health authorities to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) is now available. The set covers the period from January 15 to May 6, 2020.
