Gross domestic product by industry, July 2018
Real gross domestic product grew 0.2% in July after essentially no change in June. This increase was concentrated as 12 of 20 sectors were up, led by growth in manufacturing, wholesale trade, utilities and transportation and warehousing.
Industrial product and raw materials price indexes, August 2018
The Industrial Product Price Index was down 0.5% in August, mainly due to lower prices for primary non-ferrous metal products. The Raw Materials Price Index fell 4.6%, largely reflecting lower prices for crude energy products.
For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index, second quarter 2018
The For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index was up 3.2% in the second quarter, following a 3.4% increase in the first quarter. This was the eighth consecutive quarterly gain.
Couriers and Messengers Services Price Index, August 2018
The Couriers and Messengers Services Price Index (CMSPI) posted no change in August, following a 0.2% increase in July. The couriers component was unchanged while the local messengers and local delivery component rose 0.1%.
Births, 2017
Canada’s total fertility rate (TFR) has been declining since 2008 and this drop continued in 2017. There were 1,495 births per 1,000 women in 2017 compared with 1,543 in 2016 and 1,681 in 2008. The TFR is an estimate of the average number of live births that 1,000 women would have in their lifetime, based on the age-specific fertility rates of a given year.
Air fares, first quarter 2018
Base air fares in Canada, domestic and international combined, averaged $232.40 in the first quarter, up 3.6% from the same quarter of 2017 and continuing the upward trend that began in the second quarter of 2017.
Monthly Passenger Bus and Urban Transit, July 2018
Total operating revenues (excluding subsidies) for urban transit companies were $329.9 million for July.
Poultry and egg statistics, September 2018
Stocks of frozen poultry meat in cold storage increased 11.6% from September 1, 2017, to 104 116 tonnes on September 1. As in previous years, turkey holds the largest portion of stocks of frozen poultry meat during the pre-Thanksgiving season.
