Gross domestic product by industry, July 2016
Real gross domestic product grew 0.5% in July, led by higher output in the mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction sector. The rise in July followed a 0.6% increase in June, which had essentially offset an equivalent decline in May.
Industrial product and raw materials price indexes, August 2016
The Industrial Product Price Index declined 0.5% in August, led by lower prices for meat, fish, and dairy products, and energy and petroleum products. The Raw Materials Price Index fell 0.7%, as a result of lower prices for animals and animal products.
For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index, second quarter 2016
The For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index was down 0.1% in the second quarter compared with the first quarter. This was the eighth consecutive quarterly decline.
Computer and peripherals price indexes, August 2016
Prices for desktop and similar computers, laptop and tablet computers, and servers decreased 0.8% in August, as a result of lower prices for laptop computers (-0.9%) and desktop and similar computers (-1.6%).
Commercial Software Price Index, August 2016
The Commercial Software Price Index (CSPI) decreased 0.1% in August compared with the previous month.
Couriers and Messengers Services Price Index, August 2016
The Couriers and Messengers Services Price Index (CMSPI) increased 0.2% in August. The couriers component rose 0.3%, while the local messengers and local delivery component decreased 0.3%.
Food services and drinking places, July 2016
Total sales in the food services and drinking places subsector rose 1.8% compared with June to $5.5 billion in July, coinciding with strong tourist activity and favourable weather across most of Canada. Prices for food purchased at restaurants increased 2.7% in July from the same month in 2015.
