Wholesale trade, February 2017
Wholesale sales edged down 0.2% to $58.9 billion in February, following four consecutive monthly increases. Declines were recorded in four subsectors, led by lower sales in the personal and household goods and the food, beverage and tobacco subsectors.
Natural gas transmission, storage and distribution, February 2017
Natural gas transmission pipelines received 492.0 million gigajoules of natural gas from fields, gathering systems and plants in February, a 3.6% decrease compared with the same month in 2016. Seven provinces posted receipts, with Alberta (68.4%) and British Columbia (28.4%) holding the majority.
Purchasing power parities, 2015
In 2015, the purchasing power parity (PPP) for gross domestic income from the Canada / United States bilateral program was $0.84 US per Canadian dollar, meaning for every dollar in Canada spent on goods and services, it cost 84.0 US cents in the United States to buy comparable items. This was up from 2014, when the PPP stood at 82.3 US cents per Canadian dollar. The PPP has been relatively stable since 1990, although it continues to be below the 2006 peak of 86.2 US cents. By contrast, $1 Canadian traded for $0.78 US in the foreign exchange market in 2015.
Wool disposition and farm value, 2015
The volume of raw wool purchased directly from Canadian producers rose 0.3% from 2014 to 1.2 million kilograms in 2015. The average price paid for wool to Canadian producers in 2015 was $1.55 per kilogram.
