New Housing Price Index, July 2022
New home prices for Canada increased 0.1% in July compared with June—the smallest increase since June 2020 and below the average increases witnessed in the first two quarters of 2022 (+1.1% in the first quarter and +0.3% in the second quarter). Prices were up in 5 of the 27 census metropolitan areas (CMAs) surveyed, unchanged in 17 and down in 5.
Population Projections for Canada, Provinces and Territories, 2021 to 2068, 2022
From 2016 to 2021, Canada’s population grew at almost twice the pace of every other G7 country. While the pace of growth slowed in 2020 with the COVID-19 pandemic, it rose again in 2021 and, from January to March 2022, it was the highest of all first quarters since 1990.
Monthly Mineral Production Survey, June 2022
The value of shipments of minerals saw an overall increase of 22.7% during the second quarter compared with the previous quarter. Although there was a decline in the value of minerals shipped in April, the subsequent gains in May and June were sufficient to maintain growth for the second quarter.
Asphalt roofing material, June 2022
Production of asphalt shingles totalled 3.9 million metric bundles in June—down 6.7% from May and up 21.9% from June 2021.
Study: Performing Arts Industries
Today, Statistics Canada is publishing a new article, entitled “Grants, subsidies, donations, corporate sponsorships and fundraising take centre stage in the not-for-profit performing arts industries in Canada.” According to this study, funding in the not-for-profit performing arts industries has changed over time and further evolved throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, with changing access to and availability of funds.
