Canada’s external trade classified by broad economic categories, 2016
Imports and exports classified by broad economic categories provide insight into the role of imports and exports as inputs into production, as a source of capital and as a source of goods for final consumption.
Export diversification,
Statistics Canada has developed a set of concentration indices to measure the degree of diversification in Canada’s international merchandise exports across several dimensions. In 2016, Canadian exports were diversified by product, but were highly concentrated in terms of market of destination and province of production.
Crude oil and natural gas: Supply and disposition, September 2017
Canada produced 20.0 million cubic metres (125.6 million barrels) of crude oil and equivalent products in September.
Sales of environmental and clean technology goods and services, 2015
Ontario businesses sold almost $2 billion worth of the environmental and clean technology goods manufactured in Canada in 2015, the most of any province. Quebec was second, at almost three-quarters of a billion dollars in sales. Together, the two provinces accounted for more than three-quarters of all domestically manufactured environmental and clean technology goods sold in 2015.
Leading indicator of cross-border traveller volume, November 2017
Data indicating the number of US residents entering Canada by automobile in November through land ports equipped with the automated Integrated Primary Inspection Line (IPIL) system are now available upon request. Data are available by the visitors’ state of residence and by province of entry into Canada.
