Building permits, April 2019
Canadian municipalities issued a record $9.3 billion worth of building permits in April. The increase in the value of permits was almost entirely due to a planned change in development costs in Metro Vancouver.
Securities statistics, first quarter 2019
The value of debt securities issued by Canadian entities increased $41.2 billion (+1.0%) to $4,325.2 billion at the end of the first quarter. Debt securities issued by the federal government and banks grew the most among all Canadian borrowers.
Business and employment dynamics data at the national level, 2017
In 2017, the entry rate for new private-sector employer businesses increased 0.6 percentage points, from 12.2% in 2016 to 12.8% in 2017. The exit rate for private-sector employer businesses declined 0.5 percentage points in 2017 to 11.4%, down from 11.9% in 2016.

Transport Canada’s safety and security programs provide a broad range of activities. These include regulatory authorizations, such as the issuance of certificates and licenses to people, organizations or for equipment; compliance verifications through inspections and audits; and enforcement actions in response to non-compliance. They also include education and outreach activities targeting key stakeholders, such as regulatory bodies, as well as the general public.
