Canadian Housing Statistics Program, 2017 (revised data)
Single-detached houses dominate the Ontario housing market, accounting for almost two-thirds of residential properties in the province. In British Columbia, in turn, their proportion is less than half.
Pipeline transportation of oil and other liquid petroleum products, April 2018
Pipelines received 19.7 million cubic metres of crude oil and equivalent products from Canadian fields and plants in April, up 6.7% compared with the same month in 2017. The vast majority originated in Alberta (85.1%), followed by Saskatchewan (11.4%).
Natural gas transmission, storage and distribution, April 2018
Natural gas transmission pipelines received 569.1 million gigajoules of natural gas from fields, gathering systems and plants in April, an increase of 6.5% from the same month in 2017. The vast majority of receipts were in Alberta (69.2%) and British Columbia (28.6%).
Study: Are Canadian jobs more or less skilled than American jobs?
The Canadian economy relies on a skilled workforce to compete in a global economy. Canadian workers are more likely than American workers to hold a postsecondary qualification—most notably college and trades credentials—and generally outperform Americans on literacy and numeracy assessments. However, how these skills are being used in the workplace and how they compare across the two countries has not been previously addressed.
Production and disposition of tobacco products, May 2018
Canadian manufacturers produced 1.8 billion cigarettes in May, up 9.5% from April. Cigarette production decreased 5.8% compared with the same month a year earlier.
