Investment in building construction increased 3.4% to $19.1 billion in January, with gains posted in all components. Following a slight pullback in the summer of 2021, there have been steady investment increases since October 2021.

The total operating revenue of the software development and computer service industries reached $95.5 billion in 2020, up 7.5% from 2019. The operating revenue of these industries has been growing significantly faster than the Canadian economy since 2013, and these industries were the largest professional services employer in 2020.

New motor vehicle sales, January 2022

New motor vehicle sales (units) rose 0.9% in 2021 compared with 2020, with 1,606,664 units sold. This marked the first increase in units sold since 2017. New motor vehicle sales in dollar terms increased 6.8%. Despite these gains, new motor vehicles sales were lower in both units (-18.9%) and sales (-11.0%) when compared with 2019, the last pre-pandemic year.

Crushing statistics of major oilseeds, Canada and United States, 2021

Canadian oilseed processors crushed 9 857 362 tonnes of canola in 2021, down 4.2% from 2020. The decline followed a record high of 10 290 286 tonnes in 2020. The amount of soybeans crushed decreased 6.2% to 1 648 918 tonnes in 2021 compared with 2020. Oil production totalled 4 218 110 tonnes for canola and 308 155 tonnes for soybeans, while meal production totalled 5 700 369 tonnes for canola and 1 282 829 tonnes for soybeans.
