Wholesale trade, January 2017
Wholesale sales rose 3.3% to a record high $59.1 billion in January. This was the largest monthly percentage gain since November 2009, when wholesale sales rose 3.8%. Sales were up in four of seven subsectors, representing 55% of total wholesale sales.
Travel between Canada and other countries, January 2017
US travellers made 2.0 million trips to Canada in January, up 3.6% from December and the highest number for the month since 2007. Trips to Canada by car, which account for two-thirds of all trips by American residents, rose 4.8%, offsetting a 5.1% decline in December. Both Manitoba (+21.9%) and Saskatchewan (+11.6%) saw increases in US travellers in January, after declines in December that may have been related to severe weather conditions.

Opening inventories of crude oil and equivalent products held in pipelines and terminals totalled 12.3 million cubic metres in January.
