Job vacancies, fourth quarter 2018
The number of job vacancies increased by 78,000 (+16.6%) from the fourth quarter of 2017 to 548,000 in the fourth quarter. At the same time, the job vacancy rate was up 0.4 percentage points to 3.3%, the third successive quarter above 3.0%.
Canadian Transportation Economic Account, 2014
Output for total transportation activity, as defined by the Canadian Transportation Economic Account, is estimated to have been $342.0 billion in 2014. The total contribution to gross domestic product (GDP) was $153.4 billion, representing 8% of Canada’s total GDP.
Education Indicators in Canada
Student fees (which include tuition and other fees such as athletic fees, student health services and student associations) accounted for more than one-quarter (27%) of university revenues in Canada in 2016/2017, up from just under 20% in 2000/2001.
Accommodation services, 2017
The accommodation services subsector realized $21.5 billion in operating revenue in 2017, up 6.3% from 2016. Ontario (30.2%) accounted for the largest share of revenue, followed by British Columbia (20.4%), Alberta (19.1%) and Quebec (15.4%).
Dairy statistics, January 2019
The total amount of milk sold off farms decreased 2.1% year over year to 768 874 kilolitres in January. Meanwhile, milk sold off farms for fluid purposes increased 1.4% to 232 963 kilolitres. Milk sold off farms for industrial purposes decreased 3.6% to 535 911 kilolitres.
French in the Atlantic provinces, 2001 to 2016
Statistics Canada is releasing today four short portraits that provide an overview of the trends observed from 2001 to 2016 for the French language and the population whose first official language spoken is French in the four Atlantic provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
