Softwood Lumber Satellite Account, 2016
The value added of the forestry, lumber and pulp and paper industries, as defined by the Softwood Lumber Satellite Account, exceeds $20 billion and increased from 2013 to 2016. The softwood lumber industry remains an important industry, accounting for an average of 1.2% of total economic activity and over 5% of total exports over this period.
Dairy statistics, January 2018
Production of specialty cheese (which consists of all cheese except cheddar and process cheese) rose 3.5% from January 2017 to 28 035 tonnes in January 2018. Canada’s top specialty cheese-producing provinces are Quebec and Ontario. Since the turn of the 21st century, the two provinces have produced between 79.7% and 89.3% of the country’s specialty cheeses each month.
Poultry and egg statistics, March 2018
Stocks of frozen poultry meat in cold storage increased 1.0% from March 1, 2017, to 79 483 tonnes on March 1, 2018.
