Manufacturing: The year in review, 2016
Total manufacturing sales rose 1.0% to $614.4 billion in 2016, following a 1.7% decline in 2015. There were 1.7 million manufacturing jobs in Canada in 2016, 95.5% of the jobs were full time and 28.1% of the workforce were women.
Sawmills, December 2016
Lumber production fell 19.2% in December from November, with sawmills producing 4 866.5 thousand cubic metres of lumber. Production was 8.3% lower than December 2015.
Farm product prices, January 2017
Prices received by farmers in January for grains, oilseeds, specialty crops, potatoes, cattle, hogs, poultry, eggs and dairy products are now available.
Quarterly capital spending: Oil and gas industries, fourth quarter 2016
Capital expenditures for the oil and gas extraction industries totalled $10.1 billion in the fourth quarter, down 11.7% from the fourth quarter of 2015.
