Canada’s balance of international payments, first quarter 2021
Canada’s current account balance (on a seasonally adjusted basis) posted a $1.2 billion surplus in the first quarter after recording a $5.3 billion deficit in the fourth quarter of 2020. In the financial account (unadjusted for seasonal variation), portfolio investment was the main contributor to the net lending activity.
Industrial product and raw materials price indexes, April 2021
The Industrial Product Price Index (IPPI) rose 1.6% month over month in April and 14.3% compared to April 2020. The Raw Materials Price Index (RMPI) increased 1.0% on a monthly basis in April and 56.4% compared to April 2020.
