Activities of multinational enterprises in Canada, 2017
Multinational enterprises play an important role in the Canadian economy. They were responsible for nearly one-third (32.7%) of Canada’s total gross domestic product in 2017 and employed close to one-quarter (23.2%) of the total workforce nationally.
Study: Temporary foreign workers in the Canadian labour force: Open versus employer-specific work permits
Temporary residents with open work permits (OWP) accounted for 1.2% of total T4 earners in Canada in 2016 compared with 0.5% a decade earlier. This is a larger increase than among those with employer-specific work permits (ESWP), whose share grew from 0.2% to 0.3% for high-skill workers and stayed the same at 0.3% for low-skill workers.
New motor vehicle registrations, 2011 to 2018
In 2018, 2.2% of new motor vehicles registered in Canada were zero-emission vehicles—either plug-in hybrid electric or full battery-electric vehicles.
Automotive equipment rental and leasing, 2018
The automotive equipment rental and leasing industry group revenue rose 7.4% in 2018 to $7.4 billion, compared with an increase of 9.9% in 2017. Sales to businesses represented 55.5% of the total revenue in 2018, followed by sales to individuals and households (39.0%), sales to governments (3.9%) and sales outside of Canada (1.6%).
