One-quarter of Canadian businesses had at least some e-commerce sales in 2019
Canadian businesses grossed $305 billion in e-commerce sales in 2019. The wholesale trade, transportation and warehousing, and manufacturing sectors were the largest contributors to total Canadian e-commerce sales.
New construction of water infrastructure accelerated in 2017 and 2018
An average of approximately 13,000 kilometres of new linear water assets were built per year in 2017 and 2018, compared with around 6,000 kilometres per year from 2000 to 2016.
Travel between Canada and other countries, September 2020
Restrictions on non-essential travel into Canada remained throughout September as well as the mandatory 14-day quarantine period for Canadians returning from abroad. With these measures in place across all ports of entry, travel to Canada from both the United States and from overseas countries was down 95.3% compared with September 2019.
Wholesale trade: Early indicator, October 2020
Given the rapidly evolving economic situation, Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the wholesale sector for the month of October. The advance results for October indicate that wholesale sales rose 0.9%. The increase reflects widespread growth, particularly in the motor vehicle and motor vehicle parts, and the building material and supplies subsectors.
