Canada’s balance of international payments, third quarter 2015
Canada’s current account deficit (on a seasonally adjusted basis) narrowed $0.4 billion in the third quarter to $16.2 billion. In the financial account (unadjusted for seasonal variation), transactions in direct investment liabilities, largely foreign acquisitions of Canadian companies, led the inflows of funds into the economy.
Hours worked and labour productivity in the provinces and territories, 2014
Business productivity increased in every province and territory in 2014 except Yukon, Newfoundland and Labrador and New Brunswick. Nationally, business productivity grew 2.5%, following a 1.2% gain in 2013.
Food services and drinking places, September 2015
Following gains in July and August, sales in the food services and drinking places subsector edged down 0.1% to $5.1 billion in September. In the 12 months to September, prices for food purchased from restaurants were up 2.7%, following a 2.8% gain in August.
Canadian postsecondary enrolments and graduates, 2013/2014
Enrolments in Canadian public postsecondary institutions (colleges and universities) reached more than 2 million in the 2013/2014 academic year, up 1.2% from a year earlier.
Aircraft movement statistics: Major airports, September 2015
Aircraft take-offs and landings at Canadian airports with NAV CANADA air traffic control towers and flight service stations were relatively unchanged (+0.2%) in September from the same month a year earlier.
Residential electricity sales, third quarter 2015
Data on the Canadian and provincial sales of electricity to the residential sector in the third quarter, including volumes and values of electricity sold to residential customers, are now available upon request.
