Wholesale trade, August 2018
Wholesale sales edged down 0.1% to $63.6 billion in August. Sales were down in four of seven subsectors, representing 65% of total wholesale sales.
Investment in non-residential building construction, third quarter 2018
Investment in non-residential building construction rose 0.9% from the second quarter to $14.4 billion in the third quarter.
Investment in new housing construction, August 2018
Investment in new housing construction decreased 2.2% from August 2017 to $5.1 billion in August, the first year-over-year decline since May 2014. The decrease in August was attributable to lower spending on single homes, semi-detached homes and row houses.
Food services and drinking places, August 2018
Following three months of strong gains, sales in the food services and drinking places subsector edged down 0.1% to $6.1 billion in August. The decline was mainly attributable to lower spending in drinking places (-2.1%) and special food services (-0.3%), as receipts were unchanged at full-service restaurants and limited-service restaurants.
