Study: Unmasking differences in women’s full-time employment
A growing share of women in Canada are working full time in their main job—68% of women aged 20 to 54 in 2021, up from 65% in 2007 and 55% in 1997. However, gains in working full time, which reflect a greater degree of current and future financial security, have not been universally experienced by all women.
Monthly estimates of business openings and closures, June 2022
The business opening rate decreased from 4.7% in May to 4.2% in June 2022. This was the largest drop in the opening rate since August 2020 and its lowest level since March 2020. The opening rate was below its 2015-to-2019 historical average (4.7%) for the first time since June 2021. The business closure rate contracted slightly and settled 0.1 percentage points (pp) below its historical average of 4.6%. The number of active businesses remained relatively unchanged from May to June.
Dairy statistics, July 2022
The total amount of milk sold off farms in July decreased 1.0% year over year to 807 309 kilolitres. Meanwhile, milk sold off farms for fluid purposes was virtually unchanged year over year at 209 014 kilolitres. Milk sold off farms for industrial purposes decreased 1.3% year over year to 598 295 kilolitres.
Oilseed crushing statistics, August 2022
Oilseed processors crushed 632 962 tonnes of canola in August. Oil production totalled 261 540 tonnes, while meal production totalled 383 164 tonnes.
Milled wheat and wheat flour produced, August 2022
Millers milled 281 000 tonnes of wheat in August, while wheat flour production totalled 210 000 tonnes.

Data on major grain deliveries are now available for August.
Wholesale trade: Early indicator, August 2022
Given the rapidly evolving economic situation, Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the wholesale trade sector for August. The advance results for August indicate that wholesale sales rose 0.8%. The increase reflects higher sales in the food, beverage and tobacco subsector.
