Study: Financial Expectations and Household Debt
The interplay of factors underlying the long-term increase in Canadian household debt is a central theme in public discussion. A new Statistics Canada study shows that families’ expectations about their financial situation in the near future appear to be a key correlate of their own debt accumulation patterns.
Commercial Rents Services Price Index, fourth quarter 2018
The Commercial Rents Services Price Index increased 0.4% in the fourth quarter, following an identical increase in the previous quarter. Among the three types of buildings surveyed, the industrial buildings and warehouses (+0.7%) showed the largest increase.
Farm product prices, February 2019
Prices received by farmers in February for grains, oilseeds, specialty crops, cattle, hogs, poultry, eggs and dairy products are now available at the provincial level.
Crushing statistics of major oilseeds, Canada and United States, 2017 and 2018
Canadian oilseed processors crushed 9 286 423 tonnes of canola in 2018, up 1.2% from 2017, while the amount of soybeans crushed rose 12.8% to 2 059 277 tonnes. Oil production totalled 4 117 880 tonnes for canola and 381 626 tonnes for soybeans, while meal production totalled 5 172 116 tonnes for canola and 1 595 403 tonnes for soybean.
Asphalt roofing material, February 2019
Shipments of asphalt shingles totalled 3.0 million metric bundles in February, down 16.9% from the previous month. Compared with February 2018, shipments were 9.5% lower.
