Moving moments: Social progression in Canada over time
Released today, the third special edition issue of Insights on Canadian Society highlights recent trends in Canadian society across key well-being domains, including financial well-being, health, and demographics.

Nominal investment in residential dwellings rose 2.9% in 2025, marking the second consecutive annual increase and contributing to a 1.6% expansion in the total stock of dwelling units.
Provisional death counts, January 2024 to January 2026
Today’s release includes new and updated adjusted counts of death from the Canadian Vital Statistics Death Database, covering the period from January 6, 2024, to January 31, 2026. The Provisional Deaths in Canada Dashboard, which provides the most recent insights on mortality trends, as well as interactive data visualization tools, has been updated.
Retail Commodity Survey, January 2026
Retail sales reached $60.9 billion in January, an increase of 1.8% compared with the same month one year earlier. Higher sales were reported in 13 of the 18 commodity classes.
