In June, 460,000 people received regular Employment Insurance benefits, up slightly (+3,800 or +0.8%) from May.
Quarterly financial statistics for enterprises, second quarter 2018
Canadian corporations earned $100.3 billion in operating profits in the second quarter of 2018, up $1.0 billion or 1.0% from the first quarter and 8.2% higher compared with the second quarter of 2017.
Livestock estimates, July 1, 2018
Cattle and hog inventories were down on July 1 compared with the same day a year earlier. This was the first year-over-year decrease in hog inventories since July 2014. Cattle inventories have continuously decreased since July 2005 with the exception of a small increase in July 2017. However, sheep inventories rose for the first time in seven years.
Fertilizer Shipments Survey, fourth quarter 2017/2018
Shipments of urea within Canada increased by 220 000 tonnes to 2 924 000 tonnes in the 2017/2018 fertilizer year (July to June), up 8.1% compared with 2016/2017.
Oilseed crushing statistics, July 2018
Oilseed processors crushed 838 014 tonnes of canola in July. Oil production totalled 379 276 tonnes, while meal production totalled 468 821 tonnes.
Milled wheat and wheat flour produced, June 2018
Millers milled 254 486 tonnes of wheat in June, while wheat flour production totalled 193 920 tonnes.
