Payroll employment, earnings and hours, June 2019

Non-farm payroll employees earned an average of $1,026 per week in June, down 0.5% from the previous month, and up 2.5% on a year-over-year basis.

Canada’s balance of international payments, second quarter 2019

Canada’s current account deficit (on a seasonally adjusted basis) narrowed by $10.2 billion to $6.4 billion in the second quarter, the lowest level since Canada returned to a deficit position at the end of 2008.

Motor vehicle fuel sales, 2018

Gross sales of gasoline for which road taxes were paid have been relatively steady in the last two years. In 2018, gross sales of gasoline declined by 0.4% to 44.8 billion litres following a 0.3% decrease in 2017. Gross sales of gasoline continued to decline nationally since the 2016 peak of 45.0 billion litres which was likely induced by the weakening of global crude oil prices.

Monthly civil aviation statistics, June 2019

The six Canadian Level I air carriers flew 7.2 million passengers on scheduled and charter services in June, up 1.0% from June 2018 and continuing the upward year-over-year monthly trend that began in April 2014. This followed a 2.9% gain in May 2019 and represented the smallest monthly increase in the last three and a half years.

Aircraft movement statistics: Major airports, June 2019

Aircraft take-offs and landings at Canadian airports with NAV CANADA air traffic control towers and flight service stations increased 1.4% in June. Combined, 90 airports recorded 556,917 movements, compared with 91 airports totalling 549,294 movements in June 2018.
