Gross domestic product, income and expenditure, second quarter 2018
Real gross domestic product growth accelerated to 0.7% in the second quarter, following a 0.4% gain in the first quarter. Meanwhile, final domestic demand rose 0.5%.
Gross domestic product by industry, June 2018
Real gross domestic product was essentially unchanged in June, following a 0.5% gain in May. Increases in 12 of the 20 industrial sectors were tempered by reduced output in non-conventional oil extraction and lower activity in wholesale and retail trade.
Payroll employment, earnings and hours, June 2018
Average weekly earnings of non-farm payroll employees were $1,000 in June, little changed from the previous month. Compared with 12 months earlier, earnings increased 2.8%.
Monthly civil aviation statistics, June 2018
The six Canadian Level I air carriers flew 7.1 million passengers on scheduled and charter services in June, up 7.2% from June 2017 and continuing the upward year-over-year monthly trend that began in April 2014.
Aircraft movement statistics: Major airports, June 2018
Aircraft take-offs and landings at the 91 Canadian airports with NAV CANADA air traffic control towers and flight service stations increased 3.6% in June to 549,294 movements, compared with 530,185 movements in June 2017.
Sawmills, June 2018
Lumber production fell 7.1% from May to 5 555.4 thousand cubic metres of lumber in June. Production was 2.9% lower than in June 2017.
