Payroll employment, earnings and hours, October 2019
The average weekly earnings of non-farm payroll employees were $1,042 in October, little changed from September. Compared with October 2018, earnings grew 3.3%.

Wholesale sales declined 1.1% to $64.2 billion in October, the second decrease in five months.
Canada’s population estimates, third quarter 2019
Canada’s population increased by 208,234 from July 1 to October 1, 2019, driven mainly by an influx of immigrants and non-permanent residents. This was the first time that Canada’s population increased by more than 200,000 in a single quarter. This gain represents a quarterly population increase of 0.6%, the largest growth observed since the beginning of the period covered by the current demographic accounting system (July 1971). On October 1, 2019, Canada’s population was estimated at 37,797,496.
Travel arrangement services, 2018
The travel arrangement and reservation services industry group generated $14.0 billion in operating revenue in 2018, up 0.4% from the previous year. This growth was more modest than in recent years as the number of tourists travelling to Canada from abroad increased by 1.2% in 2018, the slowest pace of growth since 2013. Also weighing on demand for travel services was the number of Canadians who travelled to a country other than the United States, down 2.2% in 2018—the first annual decrease in 15 years.
For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index, third quarter 2019
The For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index declined 0.4% in the third quarter, following a 1.5% increase in the second quarter.

Oilseed processors crushed 829 303 tonnes of canola in November. Oil production totalled 360 183 tonnes, while meal production totalled 460 318 tonnes.
