Wholesale trade, October 2018
Wholesale sales rose 1.0% to $63.8 billion in October, more than offsetting the 0.7% decline in September. Sales were up in four of seven subsectors, representing about 68% of total wholesale sales.
Payroll employment, earnings and hours, October 2018
Average weekly earnings of non-farm payroll employees were $1,009 in October, up 0.6% from the previous month. Compared with 12 months earlier, earnings increased by 2.5%.
Canada’s population estimates, third quarter 2018
Canada’s population was 37,242,571 on October 1, 2018, up 183,715 from July 1, 2018, according to preliminary population estimates. This was the largest increase in number since the beginning of the period covered by the current demographic accounting system in July 1971. The country’s population growth rate in the third quarter of 2018 was 0.5%, an increase rarely seen in past quarters.
Travel between Canada and other countries, October 2018
US residents made 2.0 million trips to Canada in October, up 0.8% from September.
Energy supply and demand, 2017
Primary energy production in Canada increased 5.0% in 2017 to 20,741 petajoules, following a 3.1% increase in 2016.

Dairy statistics, October 2018
The total amount of milk sold off farms decreased 0.1% year over year to 758 776 kilolitres in October. Meanwhile, milk sold off farms for fluid purposes increased 0.5% to 240 857 kilolitres. Milk sold off farms for industrial purposes decreased 0.4% in October to 517 919 kilolitres.
For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index, third quarter 2018
The For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index increased for the ninth consecutive quarter, rising 1.6% in the third quarter following a 3.1% gain in the second quarter.
